Punjab Secures Top Rank in National Achievement Survey with Education Revolution

Sangrur, July 6

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday for spearheading an education revolution that led to Punjab securing the top rank in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024, conducted by the Government of India. Kejriwal lauded the state’s efforts in transforming education, combating the drug menace, and promoting job and business opportunities for youth, highlighting these as the three core priorities of the AAP government.

Historic Achievement in Education

Speaking at a function celebrating Punjab’s NAS success, Kejriwal described the achievement as a moment of immense pride for Punjabis, marking a historic milestone in the state’s education sector. He credited CM Mann’s leadership for Punjab’s outstanding performance in the nationwide survey, conducted by NCERT in December 2024, which involved thousands of students across India. “This is not just a ranking; it’s a testament to the education revolution in Punjab, validated by the Government of India,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal highlighted the transformation in the education system, noting that teachers, previously neglected and forced to protest under past regimes, are now collaborating with the Chief Minister to achieve such accolades. The state has created a supportive environment, enabling teachers to excel and students to thrive. Significant efforts include:

  • Strengthening government school infrastructure.

  • Recruiting additional teachers.

  • Training educators at prestigious institutions in Finland, Ahmedabad, and beyond.

  • Establishing Schools of Eminence to deliver world-class education.

The results are evident: 845 students from government schools qualified for NEET, and 265 cleared JEE Mains in 2024, showcasing the enhanced quality of education.

War Against Drugs: A Mass Movement

Kejriwal praised CM Mann for turning Yudh Nasheyan De Virudh (War Against Drugs) into a mass movement, unmatched across India. He emphasized the government’s resolve to eradicate the drug menace, with actions including:

  • Demolishing properties built with drug money.

  • Arresting and punishing major drug trade operatives, including influential leaders who patronized the trade.

  • Disrupting drug supply chains to protect future generations.

Kejriwal urged teachers to play a pivotal role in steering students away from drugs, reinforcing the state’s commitment to a drug-free Punjab.

Empowering Youth Through Jobs and Entrepreneurship

Beyond education and drug eradication, Kejriwal underscored the AAP government’s focus on ensuring job and business opportunities for youth. The Business Blasters scheme, designed to foster entrepreneurship among students, is gaining momentum and is poised to significantly benefit government school students in the near future. “We didn’t just build schools—we built futures,” Kejriwal said, acknowledging the hard work of teachers, principals, and education department staff.

Critique of Past Governments

Kejriwal criticized previous administrations for exploiting teachers and neglecting education, which adversely impacted students. He contrasted this with the current government’s people-centric approach, which has earned public trust and recognition for delivering on promises. The NAS ranking, he noted, is a certificate of the people’s approval of Punjab’s progress across multiple sectors.

Gratitude and Vision

Expressing gratitude to the education department, Kejriwal said their dedication made Punjab’s NAS triumph possible, a milestone that will be etched in history. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining this momentum, ensuring quality education, and empowering youth to contribute to Punjab’s socio-economic growth. Under CM Mann’s leadership, the state continues to fulfill its guarantees to the people, setting a model for inclusive development.
