Chandigarh, June 30,
As part of its unwavering campaign against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) apprehended Head Constable (HC) Mandeep Singh, posted at Police Post Patran, Patiala district, on Monday while he was accepting a ₹30,000 bribe.
Case Details
A VB spokesperson revealed that the arrest followed a complaint by a resident of Jhaloor village, Monak tehsil, Sangrur district. The complainant alleged that HC Mandeep Singh demanded ₹30,000 as illegal gratification, threatening to register a false FIR under the Arms Act if the bribe was not paid.
After verifying the complaint, a VB team from the Patiala Range set up a trap and caught the accused head constable red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses. The tainted money was recovered on the spot.

Legal Action
A case has been registered against HC Mandeep Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, Patiala Range. He is scheduled to be presented in court on July 1, 2025, with further investigations ongoing to uncover additional details.
