Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s August: A Month of Justice

Chandigarh, September 19

In its relentless campaign against corruption in Punjab, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) apprehended 6 government employees and 2 private individuals red-handed while accepting bribes in 6 distinct trap cases during August.

An official spokesperson of the state Vigilance Bureau stated today that the VB has intensified its efforts to eradicate corruption among public servants and others across all sectors during the period.

He revealed that the Bureau submitted challans related to 20 vigilance cases in various competent courts last month. Additionally, 2 vigilance enquiries have been initiated to thoroughly investigate corruption allegations against public servants. Furthermore, 7 criminal cases were registered against 15 accused, along with one disproportionate assets case against a government employee.

Providing further details, the spokesperson noted that different competent courts decided two bribery cases filed and contested by the Vigilance Bureau during the previous month. In these cases, two persons were convicted and sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment, along with fines ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹50,000.
