Punjabi University Concludes ‘Sanskrit Sambhashan Workshop’

The Department of Sanskrit and Pali at Punjabi University successfully concluded the ‘Sanskrit Sambhashan Workshop’ organized as part of ‘Sanskrit Week.’ The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Sukhjit Kaur, Director of Planning and Monitoring at the university, as the chief guest.

In her address, Dr. Sukhjit Kaur emphasized that Sanskrit is a scientific language, with its texts containing ancient knowledge and scientific principles. She highlighted that understanding Sanskrit is essential to comprehending India’s rich knowledge traditions.

Dr. Virender Kumar, Head of the Department, explained that World Sanskrit Day is celebrated annually on the full moon day of the Sawan month. He noted that this festival is dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge, and traditionally, education commenced on this day. The occasion holds special significance in Indian traditions.

The program was conducted by Dr. Omandeep Sharma. Dr. Angaraj initiated the event with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by researcher Ajay Kumar presenting a Dhyan Mantra. Dr. Rahul presented the workshop report, and Dr. Ravi Dutt delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Neetu Kaushal, Head of the Hindi Department, along with faculty members, researchers, and students from the Sanskrit and Hindi Departments, were present at the event.
