Renowned Bollywood lyricist Shelby Shelley (commonly known as Shelley) held an engaging interactive session with students of the Department of English, Punjabi University, Patiala.
The special session, titled “The Lyric Pulse: A Rendezvous with Shelley”, saw the acclaimed writer share valuable insights into his life, creative journey, and experiences in the film industry.
Shelley spoke in detail about the challenges and rewarding moments he faced while penning lyrics for several critically acclaimed films, including Dev.D, Udta Punjab, Manmarziyaan, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, and Tiku Weds Sheru. He recounted his memorable collaborations with celebrated music composers and directors such as A.R. Rahman, Amit Trivedi, and Anurag Kashyap.
National Award-winning filmmaker Dr. Rajeev inaugurated the programme by introducing Shelley’s unique contribution to contemporary Hindi film lyric-writing and tracing his creative evolution.
Head of Department Dr. Dharamjit Singh formally welcomed the guests and initiated the interaction, focusing the discussion on Shelley’s writing process and the art of lyric composition.
