In the past 24 hours, Punjab Police have received multiple complaints about individuals, claiming affiliation with a political party, illegally collecting personal documents such as Aadhaar cards, voter cards, and PAN cards, while also demanding commissions to facilitate government-related work.
A Punjab Police spokesperson revealed that some residents reported sharing their bank account details with these individuals, only to find their accounts drained of funds afterward. The spokesperson assured that all complaints are under investigation, and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.
The public is strongly advised to avoid sharing personal information with unauthorized individuals, as it could lead to misuse. Citizens should refrain from engaging with such illegal operators for government tasks. The Punjab Government has established numerous Sewa Kendras across the state, and people are encouraged to approach these centers or official government offices for their needs. Paying commissions or bribes to anyone claiming political connections is strictly discouraged.
The spokesperson urged the public to promptly report any illegal camps or suspicious activities to the police. Following credible reports of unauthorized data collection, the state government has reiterated its warning against sharing personal information with unverified individuals or agencies, as it poses a risk of misuse. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant and immediately inform the authorities of any such incidents.
