Trident Group’s ₹2000 Crore Investment Boosts Punjab Economy

Chandigarh, 20 November 2025 – In a major boost to Punjab’s industrial growth, the Trident Group (market cap ≈ ₹18,000 crore, annual turnover ≈ ₹10,000 crore) will invest ₹2000 crore in the state, announced Cabinet Minister and AAP leader Sanjeev Arora today.

Investment Break-up:

  • ₹1500 crore in Barnala district → Expansion of terry towel manufacturing capacity → Modernisation and technology upgradation of paper & chemical units
  • ₹500 crore in Mohali → Setting up a state-of-the-art corporate office → Establishing a dedicated Capacity Building & Skill Development Centre

The project is expected to directly create employment for approximately 2000 semi-skilled rural women besides generating thousands of indirect jobs.

Speaking at the press conference, Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora credited the investor-friendly policies and ease-of-doing-business reforms under the leadership of AAP National Convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister  Bhagwant Mann for making Punjab the preferred destination for large-scale investments.

Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Trident Group and Rajya Sabha MP, stated: “We are expanding our yarn and terry towel businesses to meet rising domestic and export demand, modernising paper manufacturing with eco-friendly technologies, and setting up a world-class skill development centre to empower local youth. The new corporate office in Mohali will further strengthen our operations and talent attraction.”

Trident Group currently operates major manufacturing facilities at Sanghera and Dhaula (Barnala, Punjab) and Budhni (Sehore, Madhya Pradesh). The group directly employs over 10,000 families and supports another 30,000 through indirect opportunities.
