Under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) inaugurated a 6-day Short-Term Course on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Cybersecurity. The program aims to equip faculty, researchers, and scholars with essential knowledge and practical skills in these rapidly evolving fields.
The course focuses on providing a comprehensive understanding of AI, ML, and cybersecurity technologies, fostering awareness of ethical practices like data privacy and responsible AI use, and introducing modern computational tools shaping education and research.

Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC, welcomed Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh and Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda. He praised their leadership and contributions to education and research, crediting Prof. Singh’s encouragement as a driving force behind MMTTC’s initiatives. Maini also thanked Course Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) Lakhwinder Kaur and Co-Coordinator Dr. Harpreet Kaur, both from the Department of Computer Engineering, for their efforts in organizing the program. He assured participants of engaging sessions led by experienced resource persons.
Prof. Maini emphasized that MMTTC views education as a transformative tool. He described AI and cybersecurity as societal necessities, stressing the importance of ethics, transparency, and responsibility in technological advancements.
Chief Guest Prof. Jagdeep Singh highlighted AI and cybersecurity as twin pillars of the digital future, advocating for secure, transparent, and sustainable intelligent systems. He commended MMTTC for organizing a timely and relevant program.
Guest of Honour Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma noted the transformative impact of AI and ML across research, business, and governance, emphasizing the need for ethical AI practices and robust cybersecurity to ensure trust in digital systems. He praised MMTTC’s focus on faculty development in these critical areas.
Prof. Lakhwinder Kaur, Course Coordinator, urged participants to think innovatively and apply AI, ML, and cybersecurity principles to address real-world challenges like data protection and digital ethics. She encouraged originality and creativity in research.
Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Course Co-Coordinator, outlined the program’s structure, covering topics such as AI and ML fundamentals, neural networks, deep learning, cyber threats, defense mechanisms, AI ethics, and ML’s role in cybersecurity. She encouraged active participation and collaborative learning.
In closing, Prof. Maini expressed gratitude to the organizing team, including Dr. Mandeep Singh, Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and Surinder Kumar, for their exemplary contributions to the course’s success.
