The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing anti-corruption campaign, has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Om Prakash, stationed at Sohana Police Station, Mohali, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.55 lakh.
According to a VB spokesperson, the arrest followed an investigation into an online complaint filed through the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line. The complainant alleged that ASI Om Prakash demanded Rs 2.50 lakh to cancel a case registered against the complainant and his wife at Sohana Police Station. The ASI had already accepted Rs 1.55 lakh as part of the bribe.

After verifying the complaint, the VB confirmed the allegations and registered a case against ASI Om Prakash under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB Police Station, SAS Nagar, Mohali.
The VB spokesperson emphasized the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, stating that this arrest reflects the Bureau’s commitment to taking strict action against corrupt public officials, regardless of their rank or position.
