Chandigarh, October 16
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) intensified its anti-corruption campaign by arresting Deepak Kumar, a deed writer at the Pathankot tehsil complex, red-handed while accepting a ₹30,000 bribe.
A VB spokesperson revealed that the arrest followed a complaint from a resident of Bungol village, Pathankot district. The complainant alleged that after purchasing land and paying the required registration fee to Deepak Kumar, the deed writer completed the registration but demanded ₹30,000 to ensure the Tehsildar signed the original documents.

After verifying the complaint, a VB team from the Amritsar range set up a trap and apprehended Deepak Kumar while he accepted the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station, Amritsar range. Further investigation is ongoing.
