Kejriwal Praises Bhagwant Mann Government for Grand Commemoration of 350th Martyrdom Anniversary
Vidhan Sabha at Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial, Tent City & Drone Show to Continue Till Nov 29
Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 25
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced the establishment of a world-class university in Sri Anandpur Sahib named after Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji — an idea originally proposed by AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Speaking at the culmination ceremony of Sri Akhand Path Sahib organized at Gurdwara Buddha Dal Chhauni to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, CM Mann described the university as a fitting tribute to the ninth Sikh Guru. He said the institution will promote in-depth research on Guru Ji’s supreme sacrifice, life, and philosophy, inspiring future generations and keeping the great Guru’s teachings alive forever.
CM Mann hailed Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji as the ultimate embodiment of socialism and secularism, who sacrificed his life to protect human rights and freedom of faith. He urged people to follow the path of self-sacrifice shown by “Hind Di Chadar” Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and live by the universal message of oneness, brotherhood, righteousness, courage, and compassion enshrined in Guru Ji’s Bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
He added that Guru Ji’s unparalleled sacrifice for the protection of faith stands as a shining example for all humanity, and the new university will play a pivotal role in spreading this eternal message across the globe.
The Chief Minister thanked the Sant Samaj for their wholehearted support and said the state government carried out this sacred duty with complete devotion. He highlighted the historic special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha held at the feet of Guru Sahib — an unprecedented event — where the House unanimously declared Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sri Amritsar (walled city), and Talwandi Sabo as Holy Cities of Punjab. In these cities, sale and consumption of meat, liquor, tobacco, and intoxicants will now be completely banned.

CM Mann announced free public transport (e-rickshaws, mini-buses, etc.) for pilgrims visiting these holy cities and assured that no funds will be spared for their all-round development. He also revealed plans to upgrade and renovate Charan Ganga Stadium in Sri Anandpur Sahib for the annual Hola Mohalla festival.
Arvind Kejriwal’s Address AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in Anandpur Sahib for the last three days with his family, called himself blessed to have paid obeisance at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, and other historic shrines. He said if the world truly follows Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s message of love, compassion, and humanity, communal tensions will vanish and lasting world peace can be achieved.
Praising the Bhagwant Mann government, Kejriwal said every penny is being spent honestly on people’s welfare — from quality education and healthcare to canal water reaching tail-end farmers and zero electricity bills for 90% households. He lauded the tireless efforts of ministers, officers, and employees that made the grand 350th martyrdom anniversary celebrations possible, and sought forgiveness from Guru Sahib and the Sangat for any shortcomings in the sewa.
Kejriwal emphasized that Sikh history is a story of ever-rising spirit (Chardi Kala), honest work (Kirat Karni), remembrance of God (Naam Japna), sharing with others (Vand Chakna), and standing against oppression — values from which Punjab continues to draw strength.
The special Vidhan Sabha session venue at Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial, the Tent City, and the spectacular drone show will remain open to visitors until November 29.
Present on the occasion were Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Harpal Cheema, Harjot Singh Bains, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Lok Sabha MP Malwinder Singh Kang, and several other dignitaries.
