₹1500 Crore Investment: CM Mann’s Commitment to GNJ Group

Chandigarh, 20 November

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday extended complete support and cooperation to Japan-based multinational Global Network Japan (GNJ) Group for setting up Waste-to-Energy projects in the state, as the company evinced keen interest in investing approximately ₹1500 crore towards paddy straw management and rural environmental sustainability.

A high-level GNJ delegation, including Saito Masahiko, Nobutoki Ito, Takeshi Ishiguro, Hitoshi Konagano, Rohit Bakshi, Manpreet Singh and others, called on the Chief Minister here today.

CM Mann warmly appreciated GNJ Group’s alignment with India’s environmental goals and its decision to prioritise Punjab for large-scale Waste-to-Energy infrastructure. He described the initiative as a game-changer that will effectively addresses the perennial challenge of paddy stubble burning, reduces air pollution, protects soil health by preserving vital micro-nutrients, and creates a cleaner, greener Punjab.

The Chief Minister emphasised that stubble burning not only causes severe health hazards and environmental degradation but also forces farmers to spend more on chemical fertilisers. He termed strategic collaboration with technologically advanced Japanese firms like GNJ as “the need of the hour” and assured the delegation of time-bound clearances, single-window facilitation, and all possible assistance from the state government for swift project implementation.

“This noble partnership will permanently resolve the stubble-burning crisis while generating rural employment and contributing to national sustainability targets,” CM Mann added.
